Spherecasts

Spherecasting is a new capability of the Science On a Sphere® visualization systems located around the globe. A lecturer spherecasting from one site controls all participating networked spheres, allowing for audiences in multiple locations to visualize animations of the planet together virtually. On April 1, 2009 Lawrence Hall of Science was the first site to host a Spherecast outside of the Boulder Laboratory of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) who developed the system.

This event was the first in a series of talks and workshops aimed at helping adults better understand scientific realities that shape our world. Let us know if you wish to be notified about future events.

Exhibits

  • Kids on Pheena
Climbing along the back of Pheena the fin whale model is a favorite activity for young visitors.
  • nanozone logo
Think of the smallest thing you can make. A tiny paper airplane? A knot in a string? Now think of making something millions of times smaller. That’s what nanotechnology is about.

Story

  • San Diego Science Festival
Many parents also see nanotechnology as a future career field for their children.
  • Nano Gecko
The episode is one of several on nanotechnology produced in collaboration with leading science museums across the country.
