application for Day Camps

Are you are having difficulty opening the PDF application? It's usually best to have your web browser save them directly to disk, then separately open with Acrobat, rather than having your browser attempt to load the files. For PDFs use option-click (on Macs) or right-click (on PCs). Or click and hold on the link until download options appear.

Camp Cancellations
There is a $25 cancellation fee for one-week camps and a $50 cancellation fee for two-week camps. Animal Homes Camp

In trees, beneath the leaves, under the ground, and in ponds—animal homes are all around us! Construct a class tree out of cardboard boxes, and make paper animals to live in the tree holes. Hunt for little creatures on the forest floor, and build a terrarium home for them to live in. Hold animals from the Biology Lab, and visit the LHS pond. Campers learn about animal adaptations, defenses, and nesting behaviors.

Animals and Their Young Camp

Some animal babies ride on their mother’s back, some sit on their father’s feet, and some never see their parents at all. From a 300-pound baby elephant to a nest of tiny newborn mice, to a tadpole that turns into a frog, animals and their young are truly amazing. Join us as we explore some interesting parenting behaviors in the animal world through stories, games, dramatic play, craft projects; and by holding live animals.

Bugs, Beetles, and Butterflies Camp

Did you know that there are more than one million different kinds of insects? Learn to recognize some insect friends—and enemies—of your garden, and follow their life cycles from egg to adult. Their shapes, color patterns, behavior, and growth will amaze you. We’ll watch insects crawl, hop, fly, wiggle, and swim; and might even let some tickle us.

Dinosaur Detectives Camp

A hundred million years ago, dinosaurs wandered the Earth. What were these ancient creatures like, and how do they compare to animals alive today? Dig for fossil bones, use toy models to make footprints in clay, act out dinosaur stories, and make dinosaur projects to take home. Compare dinosaurs to the Biology Lab animals, and try to unlock some of the mysteries of prehistory.

Fizzy Foamy Camp

In this camp, children enjoy mixing safe chemicals together as they learn why things bubble, fizz, and foam. They investigate foamy foods and bubbling solutions, and discover the fun fizzing action that happens when they drop “mystery” tablets into water. The campers experiment with fun chemistry activities while developing important skills for later science learning. This camp is fizzy foamy fun for everyone!
